Final on Monday, March 1, 2010

Did you enjoy your day off? Monday is the final on Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry so hopefully you have looked over your quarter notes and your literary terms. Remember, simile, metaphor, personification, hyperbole and alliteration.
"David was as mean as an ole jackass."
" Mama gave a ton of homework."
"Mr. Morrison was a human tree in height." (notice quotations after punctuation)
" The sun shone softly through the trees."
"The fire raged ferciously through the cotton field."
Do you know which of these is an example of the literary devices mentioned in boldface? Make sure you think about the Jim Crow Laws we discussed in class on Thursday. What was the significance of them? Can you identify character quotations?

Enjoy the weekend. The open responses look very promising! Still some talking sentences:(
